Coalition of Peace and Environmental Organizations Call for Peace and Climate Action

CONCORD, NH - In honor of Earth Day, a coalition of peace and climate activists will gather outside the NH state house in Concord to advocate for peace and the planet. Organizers will call on Congress to redirect military funding towards climate change mitigation efforts and highlight the connection between militarism and the climate crisis.

Activists are reminded this Earth Day of the serious work that needs to be done to address the damages caused by militarism and climate change. Bipartisan support for endless money to the Military Industrial Complex results in a military that consumes 4.6 billion gallons of oil endlessly and continues to fund genocide. This funding could be used to promote human rights and health, and for climate change solutions that protect people, ecosystems, wildlife, and our planet.

Join a coalition of Peace and Climate organizations, including NH Peace Action, 350NH, NH Sierra Club, Climate Action NH, and Back from the Brink for a rally in Concord. Additional cosponsors include: Open Democracy, Granite State Progress, SURJ (Standing Up for Racial Justice), 603 Equality, NOFA-NH (Northeast Organic Farmers Assn), NH Youth Movement, and Third Act NH.

When: Saturday, April 20th at 11:00am

Where: Outside the state house, 107 N Main St. Concord, NH

Speakers include:

Rishi Gurudevan, Students for Nuclear Disarmament

Olivia Zink, Open Democracy

Catherine Corkery, NH Sierra Club

Drew Polatchek, Climate Action

Bill Maddocks, NH Peace Action
