On July 27th and 28th join 350MA and other regional groups are planning a mass action in Somerset, Massachusetts to participate in civil disobedience against Brayton Point, New England’s largest coal fire plant. Summer Heat’s website describes the action
On July 27-28th, over one thousand citizens will come together for a mobilization at the Brayton Point Coal Plant, the largest fossil fuel plant between Maryland and Maine. We will call for Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and others to immediately close the Brayton Point coal plant and ensure a just transition for workers and host communities from the West Virginian mines to Somerset.
What: Shut down Brayton Point
Where: Somerset Massachusetts
When: Last two weeks of July
Why: To shut down the largest fossil fuel plant in New England and ensure a just transition for workers and communities
There has already been one action against coal. A lobster boat full of pro-Mother Earth supporters blocked a freighter from delivering coal from West Virginia earlier this month.
350NH is looking for interested participants in this action. If you’d like to join us contact us at 350NewHampshire (at) gmail (dot) com or on Facebook.
