350NH is seeking a passionate and experienced organizer to join our team and support the campaign against the Granite Bridge fracked gas pipeline and storage tank. The position will run from for 6 months from February to July 2019 with the potential for extension. Compensation will be $15/hour at 20 hours/week. Accepting applications until Jan 25th.
350 New Hampshire is a young and dynamic organization building the grassroots movement for climate justice in NH. Our mission is to foster a just transition to renewable energy and to end our society’s addiction to fossil fuels, through a mass mobilization of people power and creative community organizing. About the campaign:
Liberty Utility proposes to build a 27 mile pipeline from Stratham to Manchester and a 2 Billion Cubic Ft tank in Epping to transport and store fracked methane gas. The Granite Bridge Pipeline is a threat to human and environmental health and safety and will lock us into fossil fuel use for decades to come. We are using time tested community organizing methods and supporting innovative legislative strategies to raise awareness, build community resistance, and ultimately stop the Granite Bridge Pipeline.
What your work will look like:
Facilitate biweekly meetings
Plan pipeline resistance actions
Run community educational events
Organize volunteer canvassing shifts
Gather petition signatures and comments directed at the Public Utility Commission
Manage social and traditional media
Create video testimonials of frontline community members
Experience with community/student organizing and volunteer management
Experience with public speaking and facilitation
Experience with social media/video editing
Self directed and highly organized
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work successfully with people from a wide range of backgrounds and political dispositions.
Knowledge and connection to the following towns: Stratham, Exeter, Epping, Brentwood, Raymond, Candia, Auburn, Manchester
Willingness to work some nights and weekends
